Spend the Christmas holidays in Skegness or just take a short break during the festive season. Skegness on the east coast of Lincolnshire is known all over for its hospitality, and many people of differnet cultural backgrounds spend the Christmas holidays here, ensuring an interesting and exciting array of Christmas traditions.
In Skegness, you will find a host of warm, welcoming hotels where you can stay and enjoy a traditional tinsel and turkey dinner! The decorations about the town really encourage the spirit of Christmas in all. Local traditions, such as late night shopping, carol singing and fancy dress help Skegness come alive, filling locals and visitors alike with Christmas cheer. The family will find plenty to do, every Thursday the streets are filled with late night shoppers. On the first Thursday, the Skegness Christmas lights are switched on, a popular event for spectators. The beautifully lit Skegness then makes the perfect place to shop, eat and be merry at Christmas time.
Also throughout the Christmas period, you will find the local Skegness Silver Band playing classic carols throughout the town, raising money for charity whilst filling the streets with music. This year is the band’s centenary year and as well as out and about; you can also catch them at the Skegness Rotary Club carol concert in the Skegness Embassy Centre.
The Embassy Theatre are running many shows over the Christmas period, including, in early December; The Billy Fury Story-Halfway to Paradise, Sally Morgan’s Psychic tour and Christmas shows, concerts and pantomime which are yet to be announced. Last year saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarves take the stage for the traditional Christmas panto. Christmas in Skegness is a charitable time, throughout the period you will find people raising money in a variety of ways. There are shows, concerts, tombola stalls and much more.
Inside the Hildreds Shopping Centre, we have a visit from Mrs Clause this year, she will greet your children at her grotto and prepare to be amazed by the beautiful Christmas displays inside. Every year, a lot of work goes into these and they really brighten up Skegness for the shoppers.
At New Year, locals go out in fancy dress. With Skegness sea front full of exciting, modern bars, you can really see the New Year in with style in Skegness. The friendly atmosphere is buzzing throughout the town to welcome in a new year.
