Whats Happening In Skegness At Christmas

Spend the Christmas holidays in Skegness or just take a short break during the festive season. Skegness on the east coast of Lincolnshire is known all over for its hospitality, and many people spend the christmas holidays here, ensuring an interesting and exciting array of Christmas traditions.

Late Night Shopping

A popular event for Christmas shoppers in Skegness is the weekly late night shopping nights. Every Thursday from late November, the streets are filled with shoppers, carol singers, stalls and Christmas spirit! On the first Thursday, the Christmas lights are switched on, preparing the town for the festivities which follow. This is a long running Skegness tradition which attracts many locals and visitors to the town centre.

The Victorian Market
Open 10am until 4pm on 28th and 29th November

The Victorian Market includes a whole list of different things to see and do including:  Festive food and mulled wine stalls, Crafts and festive gifts, Musical entertainment provided by Christmas Carol singers and a traditional street organ, Santa will be in his Grotto inside the Hildreds Centre to welcome any young children.So, get into the festive spirit and come and join in.

Santa Fun Run

The Santa Fun Run see's runners dressed in Santa suits and running to help raise Money for local Charities. Each runner is sponsored and your Santa Suit is included with entry! The Santa fun run is organised each year by the Rotary Club of Skegness and is great fun for any one to join. For more information or to get involved Click here.

Christams Switch On & Parade
26th November 6pm until 9pm

Christmas gets off to a great start in Skegness when thousands of people turned out to see the lights switch-on. The switch on kicks off with a festive parade featuring sanata himself and two of his raindeers also included in the parade is some off the cast from The Embassy's Panto, Skegness's very own carnival Queen and many more. Santas Grotto will also be opening tonight for all the girls and boys to meet Santa himself!

Skegness Silver Band

Also throughout the Christmas period, you will be able to find the local Skegness Silver Band playing classic christmas carols throughout the town, raising money for charity whilst filling the streets with beautiful festive music. You will also be able to hear the band play at the annual Rotary Carol Concert at the Embassy Theatre. To see more about where they will be playing click here.

Christmas Panto

Why not enjoy the famous Skegness pantomime. Previous years have seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Cinderella take the stage for the traditional Christmas panto. Previous years have seen stars such as actor Frazer Hines, Lee Otway, Kerry Moore and many more. It also features dancers from Skegness' own Janice Sutton theatre school and Julie Stevens School of Dance.

26th November- Christmas Eve

Dont forget to visit Santa while your here and see if you have made it on to the nice list! Santa visits a few different locations around Skegness while his here so there is always a chance for every little girl and boy to meet him and maybe even recieve a treat if they have been good this year. Dont forget he has a letter box for all your lists in the Hildreds Centre and if you've been good he might just write back.

Beauty and The Beast

This year you may just find yourself bumping into the beautiful Belle or running into the Beast! A Night of Magic

After watching the Skegness Christmas parade led by santa and seeing the lights go on prepare your self to be swept up in the magic as you find Belle, the Beast, Lumiere and the talented dancers from Skegness' own Janice Sutton theatre school and Julie Stevens School of Dance as a host of other characters will all take to the streets in a magical show thats not to be missed full of dance, magic and wonder....




The Hildreds

Each Christmas the Hildreds centre creates an amazing wonderland of christmas displays for all to enjoy and to help spread the festive spirt. This year will see them lend the centre to Beauty and The Beast to transform into their very own enchanted Castle for the Christmas holidays!


Of course Santa and his helpers will still be found in his grotto within this magical castle but you may also just find yourself bumping into the beautiful Belle or running into the Beast and don't forget to look out for all your faviourte characters while walking round or shopping you never know who you might spot from Miss Pots and Chip or maybe you might just find Cogsworth and Lumiere!
