Christmas Shopping in Skegness

A popular event for Christmas shoppers in Skegness is the weekly late night shopping nights. Every Thursday from late November, the streets are filled with shoppers, carol singers, stalls and Christmas spirit! On the first Thursday, the Christmas lights are switched on, preparing the town for the festivities which follow. This is a long running Skegness tradition which attracts many locals and visitors to the town centre.

The Hildreds centre is beautifully decorated with a variety of Christmas scenes, ranging from Santa's little helpers busy at work making toys, to reindeer and the sleigh. You can also visit Santa's grotto inside and speak to Mr Claus himself, a magical experience for children at this time of year. There is also a post box for your letters to Santa.

Christmas Shopping in SkegnessAnother acclaimed local shopping event is the Lincoln Christmas market, thought to be the biggest market of its type in Europe. People come from all over the country to visit this traditional market at Christmas time. Many get a hotel for the night to really make the most of their stay. Visitors can expect to find a mix of quality hand-crafted goods, gifts, locally produced specialist foods and entertainment, set against the backdrop of Lincoln's breathtaking cathedral and castle. With everything from ceramics and woodcarving, to jewellery, glassware, sculptures and wooden toys, you can't fail to find that special gift. Some of the stalls are unique to Lincolnshire; others travel the globe to trade at the market. The Christmas market takes place Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th of December.
